Horseback riding is truly the most authentic way to experience the West! Several outfitters in the Vail Valley offer trips ranging from 2 hours up to a week or more. One of the most beautiful places to ride is Piney River Ranch. This ranch not only offers horseback riding but also canoeing, fishing, hiking and dining on and along side Piney Lake in the Gore Range. The drive to Piney Ranch is about 45 minutes on Red Sandstone Road from Vail. Once you're up there, you will not want to leave. You can also ride horseback at Beaver Creek right on the slopes of the ski area.
